The goal is just to make sure we’re all aware, check what’s in our pantry or freezer, and handle things safely.

Pedigree Dog Food High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Canned Dog Food

Mars Petcare US, Inc. has voluntarily recalled two lots of PEDIGREE® High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2 oz canned dog food after discovering the products may contain sharp metal and plastic fragments.

According to the company, these products had failed internal quality standards and were supposed to be destroyed. Mars later discovered that the cans were apparently diverted and sold in the United States instead.

Sharp pieces of metal or plastic inside canned dog food can pose a serious risk to dogs. If swallowed, these foreign materials could cause:

  • Choking
  • Cuts or injuries to the mouth or throat
  • Damage to the stomach or intestines
  • Intestinal blockage

If your dog has eaten the recalled food and is showing signs of illness, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Stop Feeding This Product Immediately

If you have one of the affected cans, do not feed it to your dog.

Mars recommends contacting PEDIGREE Consumer Care to arrange for a replacement product.
