Dog Treat Recall Alert: Nature’s Own Bully Bites (Lots 19379–19382)
Announced: October 3, 2025
Reason: Possible Salmonella contamination
Brand: Nature’s Own (by Best Buy Bones, Inc., Mount Morris, MI)
Product: Bully Bites 1 lb. pet treats
Best Buy Bones, Inc. has voluntarily recalled four lots of its Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites after testing by the FDA found possible Salmonella contamination.
These treats were distributed out of Minnesota and sold in Wisconsin retail stores after September 23, 2025. If you picked up a bag around that time, keep reading because this one’s important.
Products Affected
- Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites, 16 oz. bags
- UPC: 739598900750
- Best By Date: September 2027 (printed on the tag on the bottom of the pouch)
- Lot Numbers: 19379, 19380, 19381, 19382
- Packaging: Resealable plastic pouch, about 11” tall

Why This Matters
Salmonella can make both pets and people sick, especially if the treats (or your hands, or the counter) aren’t cleaned properly after handling.
In people, watch for:
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), stomach cramps, fever
- In rare cases: joint pain, eye irritation, or urinary issues
In pets, signs include:
- Lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea (possibly bloody), fever, loss of appetite, or tummy pain
Even pets who seem healthy can spread bacteria to other animals or people.
No illnesses have been reported so far, but it’s best to play it safe.
What To Do
- Check your bag. If you see one of the affected lot numbers, don’t feed it to your pet.
- Safely dispose of it so kids, pets, and wildlife can’t get to it.
- Wash and sanitize all pet bowls, scoops, and surfaces the treats may have touched.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after cleaning or handling the product.
- You can return the product to the place of purchase or destroy it properly.
For questions, contact Best Buy Bones, Inc. at (810) 687-2106 (Mon–Thu, 8am–5pm EST).
No pet illnesses have been reported to date, and production has been paused while the company and FDA continue investigating.
