Heads up, dog parents! Blue Ridge Beef is recalling 9,600 lbs. of their Puppy Mix (2 lb logs) due to Salmonella contamination. If you’ve got Lot #08/06/N25 or Lot #08/16/N25, don’t feed it to your pup!
Why the concern?
- For humans: Salmonella can make you sick just from handling contaminated food. Watch for symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, or fever. Wash your hands and any surfaces the food touched.
- For dogs: Symptoms include lethargy, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, or vomiting. Some pups might just have a reduced appetite and tummy trouble. If your furry friend ate this food and shows symptoms, call your vet ASAP!
The issue came to light when a litter of puppies got sick, and the FDA confirmed the contamination on 11/27/24. The recalled logs were sold in VA, NC, MD, PA, CT, MA, NY between August 6–23, 2024.
What to do:
- Return the product or dispose of it safely.
- Don’t feed it to pets, wildlife, or anyone else.
- Clean and sanitize bowls, utensils, and storage areas.
