Viva Raw has issued a voluntary recall of two lots of their dog and cat foods (Lot #21495 and Lot #21975) after routine testing by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture found possible contamination with Salmonella and Listeria.
These bacteria can make both pets and people sick—especially if the food or anything it touched isn’t cleaned properly afterward.
What to Watch For
In pets:
- Lethargy or low energy
- Vomiting or diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
- Fever or loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain
Even pets who seem fine can still spread bacteria to other animals or humans.
In people:
- Upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever
- In rare cases: joint pain, urinary issues, or more serious infections
- Pregnant women, older adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system should be especially cautious.
If your dog or cat ate these products and isn’t feeling well, call your vet. If you handled the recalled food and you’re feeling off, check in with your doctor.
